Flat Space

'Tis the season! This might be a familiar space to some. This creates flat space because of the direct look into the wall, all the vertical lines, and the lack of depth.

Contrast of Space

This is an interesting example because the deep space in the right side of frame has deep space, especially toward the top, while the left side of the frame has fairly flat space. Especially with the plant thing poking up as well as the wall behind it.

Deep Space

This is an example of deep space, because of the strong line leading back toward the distance. I also thought it was really cool to see the tips of the blades of grass all frozen like that.

Very nice! I think your second image in particular is an excellent use of contrast of space. Like, the fact that there's flat space and deep space alone in a single image is pretty neat; having the photo be of something as small as a railing makes it even more impressive. I'm not sure I feel that the first photo is as flat as it should be; the leading lines and multiple planes creating difference in size make it a little deep to me. But perhaps this is more of an example of limited space? Not sure. Third photo is a cool use of deep space, again with being such a close-up shot of a small subject. Great stuff!

Nicely done Carson! I think that first one creates some great flat space because of the windows. Sure we can see beyond them, but I think because of how it's framed and the contrast in tone, the image flattens out and we want to stay within this first plane that you've established. The second one has great contrast in space because you captured the leading lines to the right of frame with the contrast of that flat wall on the left. It offers us a unique perspective that's enhanced when the garland divides the frame diagonally. And man that last one is so pretty! There's excellent textural diffusion at play, enhancing that deep space that you're after. I would just…
